Characteristics of the Osteoarthritis and arthritis program: Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear of the joint due to excessive mechanical stress. Age, genetic predispositions, gender, overweight and excessive overuse, especially in active athletes, are factors that contribute to the development of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis, which affects all freely movable joints, including small joints in the wrists, hands and feet, and large joints, such as the hip or knee joint, either alone or concurrently. Arthritis is manifested by joint pain, pain during increased exertion and after exercise. Joint inflammation may be complicated by stiffness to immobilisation of the joints, inflammation of the tendons and joint capsule, muscle weakness and atrophy.
Inflammatory joint diseases are classified in practical terms into infectious and non-infectious. Non-infectious inflammatory joint diseases include gouty arthritis, psoriatic arthritis , and erosive arthritis with elevated parathyroid function. The autoimmune process is a common underlying cause of non-infectious arthritis , for example in rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatism), where the exact cause of the disease is not known. It differs from rheumatoid arthritis resulting from the sterile consequences of bacterial infection with group A beta haemolytic streptococci. Infectious arthritis is due to bacterial inflammation (e.g., caused by streptococci, borrelia) or viral infection (herpes virus, EB virus, hepatitis B virus, arbovirus). The infection is introduced into the joint during open joint injury, therapeutic interventions or via blood from another infectious focus in the body.
Using magnetic therapy in osteoarthritis and arthritis
Osteoarthritis or arthritis of the joints is one of the main indications for low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy. The therapy is beneficial due to its analgesic, anti-swelling, anti-inflammatory and healing effects. Magnetic therapy helps improve mobility, slows down further damage to the joints in chronic arthritis and provides overall pain relief.
In the winter of 2002, I was sick with shoulder joint inflammation and unable to move my hand. I borrowed the Biomag device from my sister and used it twice a day in the basic application. I was totally fine in 3 weeks.Broňa Poláková, Nemyčeves
My wife had difficulties with her right hip and left shoulder. The pain either completely disappeared or subsided.Jan Klouda, Červený Kříž
Application of magnetic therapy in osteoarthritis and arthritis
In osteoarthritis or arthritis, initially, we should preferably reduce pain using low frequencies from 4-6 Hz and once pain relief is achieved, treatment should be combined with regeneration programs at 25-50 Hz. A suitable type of applicator should be selected according to the affected location.
